AN ORDINANCE SETTING FORTH rsld ITEMIZED ESTIMATE
OF THE EXPENSE OF COIDUCTING EACH DEPARTMENT,
DIVISION AI,D OFFICE OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT
OF THE CITY OF FORT VORTH FON TIE ENSUING FISCAL
YEAR AND APPROPRIATING M0NEY FOR qME VARIOUS FUNDS
AND PURPOSES OF SUCH ESTIiiATE, AND PROVIDING FOR
PUBLIC HEARINGS UPON THIS ORDINANCE BEFORE THE
CITY COUiLCCIL OR BEFORE A CO .:. ITTEE OF TEE COUNCIL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT ': ORTH:
SECTION I
That the a ppropriation for the ensuing
fiscal yea r beginning October 1st, 1926, and end-
ing September 30th, 1927, for the different de-
partments and purposes of the City of Fort Viorth
be fixed and deterlained as follows :

VI PARKS
The Department of Public Parks shall be provided
vrith funds realized from a tax levy of 9$ on each i;;10O.00
of assessed value of all real and personal property in the
City, not exempt from taxation by law.

VIII RECREATION
The Department of Public Recreation shall be provided
with funds realizedfrom a tax levy of 2$ on each ; 100.00
of assessed value of all real and personal property in the
City, not exempt from taxation by law.
IX , ATR i ORKS
The Water Works Department shall be provided with
such revenue as may be secured from the sale of water and
other sources ,as provided by other ordinances heretofore
passed.

SECTION II
That the distribution and division of the
a bove named appropriations be made in accordance
with the budget of expenditures submitted by the
City Hanager and a s revised by the Cit„, Council
in a ccordance with the provisions of the Cf „
Charter and a dopted by the City Council and which
budget is made a pa rt of t is ordinance by reference
thereto and shall be considered in connection ;vith
the expenditures of the above appropriations .
SECTION III
That a . committee of the City Council or
the City Council of the City of Fort ';forth shall
sit as a committee in the Council Chamber at the
City Hall in the City of Fort TWorth on Tuesday, the
14th day of September, A. B. 1926 at 9 :30 ,. L:. to
hea r any complaints, suggestions or observations
that any citizen,, ta x pa yer of party interested
may desire to :sake withreference to any or all the
provisions of this ordinance, and such cormiiti;ee shall
continue its deliberations until the public has been
given a full opportunity to be heard.
SECTION IV.
That following the public hearings for which provision
has been made inthe preceding section, this ordinance shall
be published in some newspaper of general circulation in the
Cite of Fort ':- orth, together with a separate schedule setting
forth the items in the estimate of the City Manager, which were
omitted or changed by the City Council, and the reason for such
omission or change, as required by the Charter of said City.
SECTION V.
That this ordinance shall not he presentee for final
passage until ten full days have elapsed after its publication,
as provided by the Charter of said City.
SECTION VI.
Should any part, portion, section or part of section of
this ordinance be declared invalid or, inoperative or void for any
reason by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision,
opinion or judgment shall in no way effect the remaining por-
tions, parts , sections or parts of sections of this ordinance,
which provisions shall be, remain and continue to be in full
force and effect.
SECTION VII.
That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after the date of its passage and
publication as required by the Charter of the City of Fort
V,orth,

Police Departnent - The esti .ate submitted by the
City Lanager for the expense of maintenance of that department
for the ensuint; fiscal ;ear was .)350,990.00. The City Council,
after careful consideretion, increased the amount of this ap-
propriation :i15,000.00, for the purpose of increasing the
salaries of the men in that De2artment and also paying the
cost of extending the service in that department, for the
reason that it appeared to the Council that a large number of
men in that department were underpaid, that it would be DeCOS-
sary some time euring the next year, on account of the ex-
panding population of said. City, to extend the service in that
departelent and that this additional appropriation would be
advantageous to the City by increasing the efficiency and
size of the Idolice L'epertueli.t.
Fire eelartment - In the bude,et submitted by the
City 7anager it wee estimated that the cost of maintaining
the rire Depariesient for the ensuing fiscal year -voilld be
g30,850.00. The City Council, after careful consideration,
increased the amount of this estiate to the extent of
or the purpose of increasing the salaries of
the employees in that departnent ani, also for the purpose of
payin the cost of extending the e,rvice in said department,
for the reason that it apeeared to the eity Cou:cil that
there was a large nunber of leen in that department that were
uuderpaid and that it would be necessary sone tine during
