IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS CHANGE ORDER,THE CONTRACTOR SHALL:
Remove three additional underground propane tanks identified during demolition activities on demolition properties or properties owned by the City
of Fort Worth and located within the Meacham International Airport,Noise Mitigation Project Area.
Remove and dispose of approximately 600 cu.yds.of buried debris(construction materials,asphalt shingles,bottles,etc...)identified along a drainage
ditch adjacent to 3308&3310 Pearl Street. After removal of debris,re-grade drainage ditch embankment,install topsoil,and install erosion control
grass mats.
It is understood and agreed that the acceptance ofthis Change Order by the contractor constitutes an accord and satisfaction and represents
payment in full(both time and money)for all costs arising out of.or incidental to,the above Change Order.

Adopt Appropriation Ordinance and Authorize Execution of Contract with Intercon Construction
Company, Inc., for Asbestos Abatement and Demolition Services for Fire Station Eight
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Authorize the transfer of $20,102.00 from undesignated funds in the Environmental Management
Operating Fund to the Environmental Management Project Fund;
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Environmental Management Project Fund in the amount of$20,102.00; and
3. Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Intercon Construction Company, Inc., in an
amount not to exceed $32,145, for asbestos abatement and demolition services for the Fire Station No. 8
project.
DISCUSSION:
Under the recommended contract, Intercon Construction Company, Inc., will perform the removal and
transportation of asbestos containing materials from the existing Fire Station No.8, located at 1301 West
Rosedale prior to demolition. The fire station at this location is to be demolished because of the expansion
of West Rosedale. The Fire Station is being relocated to a new facility at 1101 12th Avenue.
A Request for Proposals was issued by the Department of Environmental Management on November 11,
2005. Responses were received on December 15, 2005 from the following firms:
Intercon Construction Company, Inc.
Eagle Construction and Environmental Services, L.P
D Construction
The proposals were evaluated based on a pre-determined combination of qualitative and quantitative (bid
point) measures. These measures included but were not limited to the evaluation of such factors as
previous work experience, qualifications of personnel, contractor capabilities, cost and
subcontractors. Based on the total point distribution of the measures, City staff is recommending the
contract be awarded to Intercon Construction Company, Inc.
In addition to the contract cost, funding in the amount of $957.00 is included for project contingencies. The
proposed demolition will be a joint effort, with Environmental Management overseeing and funding the
asbestos abatement and project contingency, in the amount of $20,102.00, and the Transportation and
Public Works Department overseeing demolition services and the funding from the Fire Services Fund, in
the amount of$13,000.00.

Intercom Construction Company, Inc., is in compliance with the City's M/WBE Ordinance by committing to
60% M/WBE participation. The City's goal for this project is 16%.
Fire Station No. 8 is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 9.
FISCAL INFORMATION/CERTIFICATION:
The Finance Director certifies that upon approval of the above recommendations and adoption of the
attached appropriation ordinance, funds will be available in the current capital budgets, as appropriated, of
the Environmental Management Fund and the Fire Services Fund.
