HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 3022.:J. ~~ O • RESOLUTION NO WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, adopted Ordinance No 15457 ordering an election for the purpose of electing the Mayor and City Council members to be held on May 3 2003 and WHEREAS Section 32.005(a) of the Texas Election Code requires that the governing body of a political subdivision other than a county appoint the presiding fudges for elections ordered by an authority of the political subdivision, and WHEREAS Section 32.093 of the Texas Election Code provides that the City Council shall fix the compensation to be paid presiding fudges and election clerks for their services in said election, and WHEREAS Section 87 002(b) of the Texas Election Code requires that the presiding judge of the early voting ballot board be appointed in the same manner as a presiding election judge, and WHEREAS Section 127 005(a) of the Texas Election Code requires that the authority appointing the presiding election judges appoint a presiding judge of each central counting station, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY FORT WORTH, TEXAS That the persons identified m Exhibit A are hereby appointed as presiding fudges and' alternate presiding fudges for those corresponding precincts for the purpose of conducting the City election scheduled for February 7 2004 That Jeanne Lyon is appointed presiding judge of the central counting station and presiding judge of the early voting ballot board, That Robert Parten, Tarrant County Elections Administrator is approved as manager of the central counting station, Chris Walker and Gayle Hamilton are approved as tabulation supervisors, and Germaine Williams is approved as assistant tabulation supervisor all as recommended by Mr Parten in accordance with the proposed contract for election services between the Crty of Fort Worth and Tarrant County That prior to said election, each presiding fudge and alternate presiding fudge shall attend Election School to be conducted by the Tarrant County Elections Administrator at the time and location so indicated m wrrtmg by the Tarrant County Elections Administrator That each presiding judge and alternate presiding fudge shall receive compensation for his or her services as presiding fudge, including attendance at Election School, m the amount of $8 00 per hour tdt That each election clerk appointed by each presiding Judge shall receive compensation for his or her services as election clerk in the amount of $7 50 per hour That the members of the early voting ballot board shall receive compensation in the amount of • $9 00 per hour That the presiding Judge of the central counting station shall receive compensation in the amount of $8 00 per hour with minimum compensation of 10 hours pay regardless of the time worked, and That the presiding Judge, alternate presiding Judge, or election clerk who delivers from his or her precinct to the Tarrant County Elections Administration for precinct election records, keys to the ballot boxes of other election equipment, and unused supplies after said election shall be compensated for that service m the amount of $25 00• -}~ 1 A PROVED by the Crty Council of the Crty of Fort Worth on this ~(~ day of ~ , 2003 Mike of the City of Fjb~f Worth ~ ` ~ ATTE ' ~ ~ ~~ APP ROVED ~ CITY CCUNC Gloria Pearso City'Secretary ~a DEC ~~ ZQO~ ~ ~;. ~ OVED AS TO FORM AND LEGALITY AP ~t~ ~Trera~~ as t~o~ L~%(~GI' David L.
