AUTHORIZING THE NAME CHANGE OF THE CITY FACILITY FORMERLY
KNOWN AS "THE FORT WORTH ART CENTER" WHICH COMPRISED THE
MODERN ART MUSEUM AND THE WILLIAM E SCOTT THEATRE AT 1309
MONTGOMERY STREET, TO "FORT WORTH COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER"
WHEREAS, in January 2000 the Mayor appointed a committee to study the reuse
of `The,Fort Worth Arts Center" facility as the Modern Art Museum, which was housed
m the`Centerbegan construction of their own building, and
~4 _; .;;WHEREAS, the committee after meeting for a penod of almost two years, has
deex~ed the best use of this facility to be a community arts center where local multi
cultural art orgamza"bons (theater dance music visual arts etc) will have an opportunity
to u,~t hz.e the faci-lity• and
~~~iWHEREAS the committee determined that the most appropriate name change

should reflect its proposed use and recommended unanimously that the facility be named
`Fort Worth Community Arts Center with the understanding that the William E Scott
Theatre will maintain its historical name within the Fort Worth Community Arts Center
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
That the city facility located at 1309 Montgomery Street, Fort Worth, Texas
formerly known as the Modern Art Museum be officially renamed and known as the `Fort
Worth Community Arts Center" and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED
That the City staff is hereby instructed to take the necessary action to install
signage to reflect the name change of the building to the `Fort Worth Community Arts
Center
