CONCERNING CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAFFIC ROUNDABOUT
AT THE INTERSECTION OF
UNIVERSITY DRIVE, CAMP BOWIE BOULEVARD,
WEST SEVENTH STREET AND BAILEY AVENUE
WHEREAS the City Council at its Pre-Council worksession of June 10 2001 heard a
presentation concerning the proposed redesign and construction of the traffic
intersection at University Drive West Seventh Street, Camp Bowie Boulevard
and Bailey Avenue as shown on the attached Exhibit A, and
WHEREAS the proposed redesign as a traffic roundabout with visually appealing features of
landscaping columns and a central fountain can serve the goals of easing traffic
congestion improving traffic safety and providing an attractive gateway to the
City's cultural district; and
WHEREAS significant funding support of up to $25 million from the FPA Foundation will be
committed to the redesign and reconstruction of the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS THAT
1 The City Council hereby expresses its support for continued planning and design efforts
for the proposed roundabout project and authorizes the City Manager and his staff to work
in conjunction with consultants for the FPA Foundation to achieve a final design and
construction plan for these public improvements
2 The City Council further hereby authorizes the City Manager to take all necessary steps to
conduct public workshops during calendar year 2001 to solicit public input on the final
design of the project.
