That there is hereby created. an Art Co7.imission
for the City of Fort ',orth to be composed of Five me,:ibers
appointed by majority vote of tho City i;ouncil. The first
commission created hereunder shall be appointed for the
_term of one, two, three, four and five -cars rospoctivcly,
and annually thereafter one r:erlber shall be appointed for
a term of five years.
SEXTIO 1 II
[Then the tern "work of art" is used in this
ordinance it shall mean and be iatended to include all
pAint_ings, sculptures, montiLaents, fountains, arches or
other structures of a permanent character intended for
ornament or commemoration.
SLCTIOI`i IIT
The members of the Art Corimiission shall serve

without compensation and. -�rhen any vacancies occur on said
board by reason of death, resi`;nation or other. cause, such
vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terns.
SECTIOL IV
That within a reasonable time after the appoint-
ment of the members of the Art Coimiission a meetinr, shall
be held and officers shall be elected. 1-11 e, Art Coruiission
shall hold regular n.eetin(�,s, at lease one in each month,
and shall designate the time and. place of such meetings.
It shall adopt its own rules of procedure and beep a. record
of its proceedings.
'ECTION V
shat whenever it shall be deemed necessary by
the Art Commission to expend any funds in carrying out the
work contemplated by this; ordinance an estirnate of such
expenditures shall be furnished the City Council and no
debts or expenses of any 1cind or character whatever shall
be made or incurred by said Art Corunission or any one act-
ing for it unless such debts and obli,;ations have been
specifically authorized by the City Council before same
are made.
SEC`1'IO-N VI
That it shall pass upon all questions involv-
ing the custody, possession, removal or alteration in any
way of any work of art belonging to the Ci-1-7r e kept such
works as are ;already under the control or supervision of
other duly constituted bodies of said city, and shall male
appropriate recommendation cons(,,Irning same to the City
Council.
SECTIO "VII
That it shall investi-ate t'ae -utter of any
sketch or plan of any lift to the city in the form of
a monument or memorial ana the p2oposed location thereof
and shall counsel. with the Cit- Council viith reference to
accepting or rejectin- the plan or sketch and the loci- ,
tion of such moni_unent.
ST_CI'ION .'III
That hereafter no work of art shall become the
property of the City of Port '. orth by purchase, gift or
otherivise unless such word of art or a design of saris, to-
gether with the proposed location of such a work of art
shall first have been submitted to the Art Commission
and said commission be given a reasonable time in v,hich
to make recommendations to the City Council as to whether
or not same should be accepted.
SLC'1'IU?T, IX
That no such work of art shall be erected or
placed in or upon, or allowed to extend over or upon any
street, avenue, square, co uron, l�a:'l., public building or
other public place belonging to the city, e::cept such por-
tions' of the city now. under the jurisdiction of the lark
Board or Recreation Board, until the 1'.rt Cor.Lm)ission has
had a reasonable time to investi-ace same and mal-.o recom-
mendations to the City CoLu-icil.
SECTION X
That no existing work of art in the possession
of the city shall be removed, relocated or altered in any
way until the Art Conmiission has had a. reasonalhle time to
investigate sane and make reco?Irlen.dations to the Cit-,r
Council with reference thereto, cxcept such works of art
as are now under the jurisdiction of the f"ar h Board and
I:ecreation Board,
SEXTION XI
That it is contemplated in this ordinance that
the purpose and object of the said Art Corunissioii is to
act as an advisory board to the City Council of Fort `.'forth
relating to all nature of questions involving the custody,
possession, removal or alteration in any wa-y' of any work
of art belorging to the city el-�cept such as are under the
jurisdiction of other duly constituted bodies, such as the
Park Board and Recreation F)oard., and that no action shall_
be taken with reference to such •C:-orks of art under the
jurisdiction of the Art Commission, -�:hich shall include
monuments, memorials, fountains, statuary and the like, by
the City Council until the Art Cor ,iission has been liven a
reasonable opportunity to .: aloe a full invostiation, to-
L)Sether with appropriate reconiendations to the City Council.
SEGI-11IMIT X11
All ordinances or resolutions in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby o1-q-ressly re-
Pealed.
S ;C12ION XIII
This ordinance shall tape effect and be in full
force from and after the date of its passage as provided
by lair.
