Pursuant to Section 26.01 of the Texas Property Tax Code, by July 25 or as soon as practicable thereafter, the Chief Appraiser shall prepare and certify to the assessor for each taxing unit participating in the district that part of the appraisal roll for the district that lists the property taxable by the unit. During the week of July 24, 2017, the Chief Appraisers of Tarrant County, Denton County, Parker County and Wise County prepared and certified the appraisal roll for the City of Fort Worth. Incorporated property within Johnson County is not taxable. The reported 2017 value for all properties located within the corporate limits of the City of Fort Worth is$83,712,155,148, and the Certified Net Taxable Value is $58,154,019,276. In comparison, the 2016 certified values were $74,906,924,377 and $49,704,978,581, respectively. Certified net taxable property values increased by $8,449,040,695 from the 2016 tax year or 17.0%. Because certified values do not reflect appraisals that are incomplete or pending protest, in each year's budget process staff uses past years' actuals and adjusts the Certified Net Taxable Value to reflect the projected impact of the incompletes and protests and provide a more complete estimate of final values and projected revenues. The FY2018 City Manager's recommended budget is based on an estimated final net taxable value of$60,950,027,101 as compared to the $54,520,574,865 figure used in FY2017, representing a projected increase of$6,429,452,236. Section 26.04 of the Texas Property Tax Code requires the Tax Collector to certify the anticipated collection rate to the taxing unit for the current year. On July 7, 2017, the Tarrant County Tax Assessor/Collector's office certified the anticipated collection rate for the City of Fort Worth for tax year 2017 at 100%.
