REQUESTING THAT THE FORT WORTH CRIME CONTROL
AND PREVENTION DISTRICT ORDER AN ELECTION
REFERENDUM TO BE HELD ON MAY 6 2000, ON THE
CONTINUATION OF THE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION
DISTRICT AND ITS ONE-HALF CENT SALES TAX FOR A
PERIOD OF FIVE YEARS
WHEREAS the current authorization for the Fort Worth Crime Control and
Prevention District created under Article 2370c-4 V.A.C S and
now codified under Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government
Code will expire on September 30 2000 and
WHEREAS Chapter 363 of the Texas Local Government Code provides for a
process by which the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention
District shall continue beyond September 30 2000 if an election is
held and the majority of votes cast in said election are in favor of
the continuation of the District; and
WHEREAS Chapter 363 further provides that the Board of Directors of the Fort
Worth Crime Control and Prevention District shall order said
election if a majority of the Fort Worth City Council adopts a
resolution requesting a continuation after notice and public hearing
on the matter and
WHEREAS at its regular meeting of February 15 2000 the Fort Worth City
Council after notice thereof as required 6y law held a public
hearing on the question of whether to continue the Fort Worth
Crime Control and Prevention District, at which hearing all persons
were given the opportunity to present evidence on the matter and
WHEREAS following said public hearing the Fort Worth City Council desires
that the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District and its
one-half cent sales tax be continued for an additional five years
and that the Board of Directors of the District order a referendum
election to be held on May 6 2000 on the continuation of same
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS

That the Fort Worth City Council requests the Board of Directors of the Fort
Worth Crime Control and Prevention District to order a referendum election to be held
on May 6 2000 on the continuation of the District and its one-half cent sales tax for five
(5) years at which election the qualified voters residing in the District shall have the
opportunity to vote on the following proposition
`Whether the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District
should be continued for five (5) years and the crime control
and prevention district sales tax of one-half cent should be
continued for five (5) years
