HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2623A Resolution NO ~ga3 A RESOLUTION DECLARING A LOCAL STATE OF DISASTER WHEREAS, on the 28th day of March, 2000 the City of Fort Worth suffered widespread and severe damage, injury loss of life and property resulting from tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, hail, and flooding; and WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Texas has issued a proclamation (No 41 2787) dated March 29 2000 declaring a disaster in Tarrant County as a result of these catastrophic weather events, and WHEREAS, Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code and Chapter 11 5 of the Fort Worth City Code authorize the Mayor of the City of Fort Worth to declare a local state of disaster when extraordinary measures are necessary to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property WHEREAS the Mayor has issued a declaration that a local state of disaster exists from and after March 28, 2000 and in accordance with applicable law such declaration shall continue for a period of seven days unless continued or renewed by the City Council, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the declared local state of disaster should continue in order to continue implementation of the City's Emergency Management Plan, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That the declared state of disaster shall be continued in effect. SECTION 2. That the City's Emergency Management Plan has been implemented and shall continue to be implemented as necessary ~~
