HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2646 A Resolution No ~~ y6 A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PEER REVIEW TEAM'S RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING STATE HIGHWAY 121T WHEREAS, the Southwest Parkway (SH 121T) from IH 30 to Cleburne has been identified as a cntical mobility need for the City of Fort Worth and the surrounding region, and WHEREAS, the Southwest Pazkway (SH 121T) has been included as a mayor component of the City's Master Thoroughfaze Plan since the 1960's, and WHEREAS, mobility needs and dramatic growth m the region led the City of Fort Worth to partner with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) to pursue construction of this major project; and WHEREAS, after reviewing the basic project plans as proposed by TxDOT and NTTA, the City Council reaffirmed the need for the project and created a Citizen Review Committee for further input on the design, and WHEREAS the Citizen Review Committee submitted recommendations to the City Council based upon its review of the project; and WHEREAS, in an effort to ensure that the project incorporates a high level of urban design standazds, the City Council, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Fort Worth; Inc. sponsored a Peer Review of the project; and WHEREAS, the Peer Review Team made it's findings and recommendations regarding the project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS 1 Acknowledges and accepts the Peer Review Teams recommendation that the Southwest Parkway (SH 121 T) is needed and should be built as a `park-like" roadway 2. Supports the continuing partnership between TxDOT NTTA and the City for the construction of this project. ~Y'1"Y !f~" ~"O~'t3' ~III''O~+t'~'~ d3 ~.y Supports utilizing an open and inclusive community process to further review analyze and develop specific recommendations and a design concept which reflect public input and the guiding principles contained in the Peer Review Team s recommendations. 4 Supports the designation of a Project Development Team to lead the community process, assisted by experienced highway design and urban roadway landscape professionals.
