Adopted Resolution No,
WHEREAS, abuttmg property owners have requested and signed petition, that the City
physically close, at such property owners' expense, an east west alley between Loney and Exeter
Streets, Lots 1 20 Block 38, Glenwood Addition, City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County Texas.
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the City of Fort Worth has reviewed this request and
recommends that the request be approved,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS
That the existing east west alley between Loney and Exeter Streets, Lots 1 20 Block 30,
Glenwood Addition and as more specifically described m Exhibit A attached hereto and
incorporated herein, be physically closed with a fence and a locked gate at the aforesaid abuttmg
property owners' expense, with the City to retain title to the public nght-of way m said alley
retaimng any and all easements for existing and prospective utilities, and retaimng the nght of
access at all times for the purpose of mamtaimng existing and prospective utility facilities located m
the aforesaid portions of said alley
In addition, the City reserves the nght, at the sole discretion of the City Council, to reopen
by resolution the aforesaid alley nght-of way to public travel at any time by directing the removal
of the aforesaid fence and locked gate, all costs and expense of said removal to be borne by the
aforesaid abuttmg property owners.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution closing an east-west alley
between Loney and Exeter Streets, Lots 1 20 Block 38 Glenwood Addition Fort Worth Tarrant
County Texas
DISCUSSION
Kenneth J Helton who owns property abutting the alley at 1601 East Stella petitioned for alley closure
to aid in preventing transient foot traffic as a means of abating crime All owners of property on Stella
Street and Broadway Street, abutting the alley have agreed to the closure The alley is to be gated
with the property owners the Transportation and Public Works Department, and emergency service
personnel having keys Closure of the alley will not affect utility services because public ownership will
remain intact. On October 23 1998 the Plan Commission recommended approval of the requested
alley closure
This request is located in COUNCIL DISTRICT 8
