REQUESTING THAT THE FORT WORTH TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY
RECONSIDER THE LOCATION OF THE BUS TRANSFER CENTER
WHEREAS the Fort Worth community commissioned a panel of expert
consultants to develop a conceptual design for the redevelopment of the Lancaster
Avenue corridor in the southern portion of downtown, and
WHEREAS, the panel of consultants considered all factors in the downtown area
to formulate their recommendations, and
WHEREAS, the panel recommended that the community reexamine the decision
to locate the Transportation Authority's bus transfer center at 9`" and Jones Streets and
consider a site at or near the Texas and Pacific Railroad Terminal building; and
WHEREAS, the Lancaster Corridor Steering Committee discussed this
recommendation from the consultants and agreed that the location of the bus transfer
center was important in the development of the southern portion of downtown, and
WHEREAS, the Steering Committee unanimously voted to request that the Fort
Worth Transportation Authority Executive Committee defer any work on the bus transfer
center until further study can be conducted on the best location for the bus transfer center
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fort Worth City Council
supports further study on the location of the bus transfer center and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fort Worth Crty Council requests that
the Fort Worth Transportation Authority Executive Committee defer work on the bus
transfer center at the 9`~' and Jones Street location until a study on the location can be
completed.
