HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2554C7-16-9 A ~ 31 t7CVD A Resolution NO a~ IN SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSED U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY CLEAN AIR STANDARDS FOR MOTOR FUEL AND VEHICLES WHEREAS, Collin Dallas Denton and Tarrant Counties are classified as a serious non attainment are for ozone under the federal Clean Air Act of 1990 and WHEREAS, despite the implementation of numerous control measures the area has not achieved attainment status and WHEREAS, it is recognized that the introduction of low pollution emitting vehicles into the areas vehicle fleet will significantly improve the areas ability to achieve attainment status and WHEREAS, it is imperative the low emitting vehicle technology be incorporated into all classes of passenger vehicles including minivans pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles and WHEREAS, the time period for the incorporation of these vehicles into the area s fleet needs to be accelerated to ensure that the DFW area gains full benefit in its attempt to attain compliance with the federal Clean Air Act of 1990 and WHEREAS, rt is equally important that the sulfur content of gasoline and diesel to increase the effecti~ eness of the low emitting vehicle technology NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH That it expresses its support of the National Low Sulfur Motor Fuels and Tier 2 Emission Standards proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency APPROVED CITY COUNCf~ JUL 2® 199'9 Adopted this ~Q~' day of ~______ 1999 (~..4 ~~~ Cite Secretary of the ,, Gity of Fort Worth, Texas ~F ~~ ~
