HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 18542-04-2009Ordinance No, 18542-44-2049 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING ESTIMATED RECEIPTS AND APPROPRIATIONS (N THE SPECIAt_ TRUST FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,287.40, FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF APPROVING ACCEPTANCE OF MONETARY DONATIONS FOR THE FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION TRUST; PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE: MAKING THIS ORDINANCE CUMULATIVE OF PRIOR ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWkTH: AND PROVIDING AN EFFEGTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY 7HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That in addition to those amounts aliacated to the various City departments for Fiscal Year 2008-2009, there shall also be increased estimated receipts and appropriations in the Special Trust Fund in the amount of $8,28240, from available funds, for the purpose of approving acceptance of monetary donations for the Fire Safety Education Trust. SECTION 2. That should any portion, section or part of a section of this ordinance be declared invalid; inoperative or void for any reason by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision, opinion or judgment shall in no way impair the remaining portions. sections, or parts of sections of this ordinance, which said remaining provisions shat! be and remain in fu(( force and effect. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of Ordinance No. 18283 and all other ordinances and appropriations amending the same except in those instances where the provisions of this ordinance are in direct conflict with such other ordinances and appropriations, in which instance said oant1ioting provisions of said prior ordinances and appropriations are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon adoption. Authorize the City Manager to accept monetary donations in the amount of $8,287.00 from various donors; and 2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations by $8,287.00 from available funds in the Special Trust Fund. DISCUSSION: The Fire Safety Education Trust (Trust) received donations totaling $8,287.00. The purpose of the Fire Safety Education Program is to enforce the learn Not to BurnO curriculum that is taught in the elementary SChflOES. The primary gook of that program is to teach children andlor adults how to test the door for heat, when to crawl out of a room and fhe importance of having two defined exit routes in the event of a fire. This program also teaches the importance of having enough smoke alarms, the proper placement of smoke alarms in homes, developing and adhering to a schedule for battery replacement, basic kitchen safety and how to call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency. Funds from this Trust will be used to replenish or purchase items such as: • Fire Safety House supplies and minor repairs; .
