DESIGNATING SUPPORT FOR TARRANT COUNTY'S
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS Fort Worth and Tarrant County are m the midst of unparalleled growth
which is resulting m more people and more businesses m the region, and
WHEREAS the Tarrant County Commissioners have identified the need for new and
expanded facilities to serve the 1.2 million Tarrant County residents, and
WHEREAS the Tarrant County Commissioners, after careful study have crafted a
$94 3 million capital improvement program to add needed civil and family court space,
expand county parking facilities, construct a new county health department office and expand
the county fail system, and
WHEREAS the Tarrant County Commissioners have called an election for August 8
1998 to seek voter approval for the issuance of $94.3 million in bonds to finance the
proposed capital projects.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fort Worth hereby
wholeheartedly endorses the 1998 Capital Improvement Package because of the growing
demands for county services.
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council urges citizens to vote on
August 8 1998 for the issuance of bonds to pay for the proposed improvements.
