Revising the Canvass of the Returns and the Declaration of
the Results of the Election Held on May 3 1997 for the
Purpose of Electing a City Councilmember for City Council
District No 6 of the City of Fort Worth Texas
WHEREAS on May 3 1997 elections were held in the City of Fort Worth
Texas at which elections the qualified voters of the City had
the opportunity to vote for the purpose of electing aMayor-at
large and eight (8) City Councilmembers from their respective
districts and
WHEREAS at a regularly called meeting held on May 6 1997 the Fort
Worth City Council adopted Resolution No 2280 canvassing
the returns and declaring the results of said elections and
WHEREAS prior to the canvassing of said returns a written request was
submitted by Jewel Woods candidate for election to City
Council District No 6 petitioning for a manual recount of the
votes cast in all precincts in District No 6 and all early votes
cast for the position of City Councilmember for District No 6
and
WHEREAS upon receipt and approval of said request, Mayor Kenneth
Barr acting as Recount Coordinator and Recount Supervisor
ordered a recount of the votes cast in said City Council
District No 6 election and appointed a Recount Committee
to conduct said recount, and
WHEREAS on May 7 1997 the Recount Committee conducted a manual
recount of the votes cast in said election and
WHEREAS following completion of said recount, the Recount Committee
prepared and delivered to the Recount Supervisor a report of
fhe Committees vote count, which report reflects that the
number of votes received by the candidates for election to
District No 6 changed so that candidate Clyde Picht
received 1 X21 votes and candidate Jewel Woods received
1,41,tvotes and

WHEREAS Section 213 033 of the Texas Election Code provides that in
the event a recount changes the number of votes received for
a particular candidate the canvassing authority for the
election shall conduct a canvass for that office using the
Recount Committees report, and that the new canvass shall
become the official canvass for the election to that particular
office
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FORT WORTH
SECTION 1. That the matters and facts set forth in the preamble of this
Resolution are hereby found to be true and correct.
SECTION 2. That the City Council accepts the report of the Recount Committee
and hereby finds and declares that following said recount, the returns for the election to
City Council District No 6 held on Saturday May 3 1997 are as follows

SECTION 3. That the City Council further finds and declares that said returns
are correct, and hereby adopts same as the returns of said election to City Council
District No 6 and that Clyde Picht be declared elected to City Council District No 6
SECTION 4. That it is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting of
the Fort Worth City Council at which this Resolution was adopted was open to the
public and that public notice of the time place and purpose of said meeting was given
all as required by Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code
SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after the date of its adoption said date being the 13th day of May 1997 and
it is so resolved
