RESOLUTION COMMENDING U S NAVY CAPTAIN DENNIS BEAVER FOR
EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH JOINT RESERVE BASE (JRB) FORT WORTH
WHEREAS the former Carswell Air Force Base was selected as the site for the first ~omt
reserve base serving all branches of the U S Department of Defense and
WHEREAS Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (JRB) Fort Worth will consist of
Naval Air reserve units from Dallas Detroit and Memphis as well as Marine Air Support and
ground combat units Texas Army Guard and National Guard air units and the 301st Air Force
Reserve unit and which will have approximately 11 650 military and civilian personnel 104
aircraft and an array of support equipment; and
WHEREAS management of Naval Air Station JRB Fort Worth has been the
responsibility of the U S Navy which has charged Captain Dennis T Beaver with establishing
the ~omt operating systems for the base with preparing the facility for its new role and new units
and with coordinating with the Greater Fort Worth community the orderly and beneficial reuse of
the facility and,
WHEREAS the Carswell Reuse Authority composed of various local officials charged
with the task of developing suitable reuse for all property within the former air base has worked
closely with Captain Beaver and his staff to transform the base into a model joint service military
installation through joint planning as well as management of the facilities and
WHEREAS Captain Beaver has led the effort for JRB Fort Worth and its staff to be an
integral part of the Fort Worth community as demonstrated by the special Christmas project m
which stolen bicycles were collected from law enforcement agencies refurbished and returned to
the community by making the bicycles available to low income families and
WHEREAS the community s confidence that former Carswell is being transformed
successfully into a model Joint base and the demonstration of good corporate citizenship is
occurring because of the outstanding and sensitive leadership of Captain Beaver
NOW THEREFORE THE FORT WORTH CITY COUNCIL resolves to recognize the
diligent and dedicated efforts of Captain Dennis T Beaver toward the successful reuse of the
former Carswell Air Force Base through his close work with the community and
