HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2143A Resolution ~/~ AUTHORIZING ELECTIONS TO BE HELD JOINTLY BY THE CITY OF FORT WORTH AND THE FORT WORTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ON SATURDAY, MAY 4, 1996 WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth will hold special elections on Saturday, May 4, 1996, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a City Councilmember for District 9 of the City of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Independent School District will hold its regularly scheduled elections on Saturday, May 4, 1996, for the purpose of electing trustees to the School District s board of trustees; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that, to the extent feasible, said elections should be held jointly by the City of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Independent School District, pursuant to Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code, NOW, THEREFORE, TEXAS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, 1 That to the extent feasible, the City of Fort Worth will hold its special elections jointly with the regularly scheduled elections of the Fort Worth Independent School District on Saturday, May 4, 1996, pursuant to Section 271 002 of the Texas Election Code 2 That the City of Fort Worth will share equally in the cost of said joint election relating to those polling places in the City election which are shared in common with the Fort Worth Independent School District, except, however, that the costs of ballots, supplies, voting machines, and clerks utilized exclusively by the Fort Worth Independent School District will be the exclusive obligation of the School District, and the costs of the ballots, supplies, voting machines, and clerks utilized exclusively by the City of Fort Worth will be the exclusive obligation of the City 3 That the fee of the election judges for delivering the election returns and the election supplies to the different locations for the different election authorities, as provided by Sections 271 013 and 271 004 of the Texas Election Code, will be paid by the respective election authority to whom the election returns and supplies are delivered ~:• APPROI~E**Di~ t ITY CQUiYCIL J el Woods M yor Pro Tem F~~ 20 ~~,~ ity of Fort Worth, Texas ~steuv of CITY OF FORT WORTH
