BY THE FORT WORTH CITY COUNCIL
RESUBMITTING THE CITY'S FUNDING APPLICATIONS AND REITERATING ITS
REQUEST FOR FUNDING OF THE PARKS COMMUNITY POLICING AND SECURITY
AND NEIGHBORHOOD CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS AND SUBMITTING
ADDITIONAL FUNDING APPLICATIONS FOR TWO ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS TO
THE FORT WORTH CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth, acting through its statutorily authorized City Manager duly
made applications to the Fort Worth Crime Control and Preventton District for funding of the
programs of its Fiscal Year 1996-1997 crime control and prevention plan, including a PARKS
COMMUNITY POLICING AND SECURITY program m the amount of $426 191 00 and a
NEIGHBORHOOD CODE ENFORCEMENT program in the amount of $345,938 00• and,
WHEREAS, the Fort Worth Crime Control and Prevention District Board did not include
funding for the above stated programs in the FY 96-97 budget it forwarded to the Fort Worth
City Council for statutory approval, resulting m City Council disapproval of the District budget;
and,
WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council supports District funding of the above stated PARKS
and CODE programs and has identified two additional programs, full funding of the POLICE
CIVIL SERVICE PAY PLAN m the amount of $784,647 and funding a portion of the JAIL
CONTRACT in the amount of $811 750 believing them to be in the best interests of the citizens
of the City of Fort Worth and consistent with the goals for which the District was created by
those citizens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth,
Texas, that:
1 The City Manager is hereby directed to forward, as a resubmission, the City s
original funding applications for the programs of the FY 96-97 crime control and prevention
plan, including funding for the PARKS COMMUNITY POLICING AND SECURITY and
NEIGHBORHDOD CODE ENFORCEMENT programs, and adding funding for the POLICE
CIVIL SERVICE PAY PLAN and JAIL CONTRACT to the Board of the Fort Worth Crime
Control and Prevention District for the Board s consideration in the upcoming budget
deliberations and
2. The Board of the District is requested and urged in the strongest terms to support
and approve funding for the entire crime control and prevention plan, including funding m the
CITY OF FORT WORTH
above amounts for the PARKS COMMUNITY POLICING AND SECURITY NEIGHBORHOOD
CODE ENFORCEMENT CIVIL SERVICE PAY PLAN and JAIL CONTRACT programs.
