The Communications & Public Engagement Department (CPE) continues to use a variety of communications tools
and public outreach methods to reach out to residents. The department is responsible for coordinating the
citywide strategic communications efforts by working with departments and city leadership. This includes: media
relations, community engagement, external and internal communications, FWTV, social media and the city's
website, fortworthtexas.gov.
Customer Care
The Customer Care Division moved from the Code Compliance Department and joined the Communications &
Public Engagement Department in FY18. The Call Center averages 300,000 calls a year. Last year, 96%of all calls
were answered with an average answer time of 30 seconds.
The Customer Care team is also leading the implementation of the new Citizen Relationship Management system.
Phase 1 has been completed and Phase 2 is well underway.
GovDelivery
This is our first full year of using GovDelivery. This electronic newsletter service allows us to send targeted
messages to our residents and allows residents to pick the information that they receive.
We currently have:
187,678 subscribers, increasing from 13,079 before we switched to GovDelivery
72 separate topics
1,757 messages sent
Branding Standards
Working with department representatives, the department rolled out comprehensive branding standards and
guidelines for the city. This allowed communications to be standardized across departments and ultimately present
a more cohesive and professional message for our residents.
Recreation Catalog
The CPE staff worked with Park and Recreation and Neighborhood Services staff to develop a comprehensive
recreation catalog for all city community centers. The catalog allows for centers to cross promote programming
and to share class offerings with a citywide audience. There is also an online version that allows people to directly
link to class registration and payment.
FWTV Technology Improvements
In order to allow more flexibility in providing live video, we invested in two new vans and remote control cameras.
This allows us to host live meetings from more locations. With the remote cameras, we can have fewer staff at each
shoot to run the equipment.
