*a SUBJECT: POLICE DEPARTMENT USE OF MOBILE STORE FRONTS
#qrF rn
Y@73
The Fort Worth Police Department currently has five Mobile Store Fronts, also called Police Mini-Stations.
These assets are recreational vehicles with Police markings, outfitted to provide police services in various
areas of the City. Each of the five Patrol Divisions was provided with a Mobile Store Front years ago.
Now that the Department has created a sixth Patrol Division, North and Northwest Patrol Divisions share
the Mobile Store Front previously assigned to North Division.
The Mobile Store Fronts have traditionally been used to provide visible police presence at events sponsored
by or supported by the Police Department. These events include Community Forums, National Night Out,
Child ID, Back to School Fairs, Safety Fairs, Bicycle Rodeos, and Auto Etchings. Additionally, these
Mobile Store Fronts have been used as mobile command posts at incidents requiring a large and/or an
extended police presence. They are used regularly for races at Texas Motor Speedway, TCU games,
Cowtown Marathon, and other high-profile events. The Mobile Store Fronts are typically staffed by
Neighborhood Police Officers, Crime Prevention Specialists and Code Blue volunteers. The officers are
available to take police reports, receive crime information from citizens, and offer advice on personal safety
and property security. Our Citizens on Patrol and Crime Prevention Specialists provide Child ID cards,
crime prevention literature and tips, while also helping to recruit new Code Blue members.
The Mobile Store Fronts are also deployed to areas
1 in each patrol division where a higher level of
police visibility is beneficial to deter crime. The
Neighborhood Police Officers use crime data and
Foyr WORM input from the community to recommend
aoLce deployment strategies. Each Patrol Commander
eoLc has been tasked with seeking out opportunities to
increase the use of the Mobile Store Fronts in their
division. The East Division has started to advertise
on NextDoor where and when their Mobile Store
Front will be in the community. These Mobile
Store Fronts offer a visible deterrent to crime as
well as a venue for citizens to interact with the
police at different locations throughout the
community.
