Kayser, City Secretary With a quorum of the City Council Members present, Mayor Pro tem Shingleton called the Fort Worth City Council Work Session to order at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, in City Council Conference Room 290 of the Fort Worth City Hall, 200 Texas Street, Fort Worth, Texas. 1. Report of the City Manager—David Cooke, City Manager a. Changes to the City Council Agenda There were no changes. b. Upcoming and Recent Events Victory Forest Community Center Grand Opening on March 3, 2018 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. c. Organizational Updates and Employee Recognition(s) Park and Recreation Director, Richard Zavala introduced Assistant Director Steve Southard. Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald recognized the following officers that received commendations: Sergeant N. Harris and Corporal M. S. Martinez Officer T. Gierling Detective C. Cespedes, Officer D. Current Agenda Items - City Council Members No questions on current agenda items. 3. Responses to Items Continued from a Previous Week No items were continued. 4. Presentation on Tourism Strategic Plan - Bob Jameson, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Paul Ouimet, Intervistas Mr. Bob Jameson, Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Mr. Paul Ouimet, Intervistas presented the tourism strategic plan. The Master Plan objective is to "Make Fort Worth a must-visit destination." The goals are: greater collaboration, enhanced experiences, enhanced infrastructure, messaging and image and improved connectivity. 5. Briefing on Dickies Arena - Susan Alanis, City Manager's Office Assistant City Manager Susan Alanis, City Manager's Office, provided and update in the progress of the Dickies Arena. The arena is one-third complete and the parking garage operated during the 2018 Stock Show. Ms. Alanis also provided a financial update. Mr. Robert Sturns, Director of Economic Development provided an update on the Minority Business Enterprise participation in the project. Next steps include continued work on the parking agreement, continued monitoring of MBE efforts, Sign Agreement and prepare for collection of Venue Taxes beginning when the arena opens. 6. City Council Requests for Future Agenda Items and/or Reports There were no requests for future agenda items. 7. Executive Session (CITY COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM, CITY HALL, ROOM 290) There was no executive session.
