FOR DFW AIRPORT'S 20TH RSARY

WHEREAS twenty years ago the Cities of Fort Worth and Dallas
came together in an unprecedented joint effort to
improve the air transportation needs of the two rapidly
expanding cities by creating the Dallas-Fort Worth
International Airport; and
WHEREAS the cooperative project turned 17,500 acres of prairie
land into one of the biggest employment catalysts in
North Texas creating 68 000 jobs directly and indirectly
for the region, and
WHEREAS the airport is the region's single biggest economic
generator with an annul positive economic impact of
more than $6 billion each year and has served as a
catalyst for attracting scores of corporate relocations to
the region, and
WHEREAS DFW Airport is poised to become the world's busiest
airport by the turn of the century with more takeoffs
and landings than any other airport, and to transport
more than 100 million passengers a year by 2010• and
WHEREAS the DFW Airports future development plans are to add
two new runways redesign passenger terminals and
make comprehensive airfield improvements which will
create an additiona131 000 jobs over the next 20 years
and
BE IT RESOLVED THAT
the Fort Worth City Council salutes the Dallas-Fort
Worth International Airport, its Board and staff on this
date January 18 1994 to commemorate the occasion
of the 20th anniversary of Dallas-Fort Worth
International Airport.
