HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2022A Resolution IN SUPPORT OF THE ALEXANDER COMPANY'S APPLICATION FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDITS IN CONNECTION WITH THE RENOVATION OF THE HISTORIC BLACKSTONE HOTEL AND ELECTRIC BUILDING NO _~?D ~ ~ WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is committed to the revitalization of the Central Business District as part of a City-wide strategy for encouraging economic development, and WHEREAS the preservation and renovation of historic downtown buildings is an important factor in the economic development of the inner city and WHEREAS, there is a need for additional affordable housing in the City of Fort Worth, and WHEREAS, the development of residential facilities and affordable housing within the downtown area will promote growth and economic development within the inner city; and WHEREAS, the historic Blackstone Hotel has been listed on the National Register since 1984, is a Fort Worth Landmark and has been vacant since 1982, and WHEREAS, the nomination to place the predominantly-vacant Electric Building on the National Register is pending, end WHEREAS, the City Council has granted a 10-year tax exemption for the Blackstone Hotel and Electric Building to encourage their renovation NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY OF FORT WORTH Will support the application of the Alexander Company to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, under the low- income housing tax credit program, to receive federal tax credits for the rehabilitation of the historic Blackstone Hotel and the Electric Building in downtown Fort Worth ADOPTED ON THIS //.J~ day of ~L /l/ /~~C.~~~t ~J`i .J , 19 9 4 APPROVED CITY COUNCIL ~~v ~ of CITY OF FORT WORTH
