HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2023 A Resolution DESIGNATING CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO ACT ON ITS BEHALF RELATING TO PRESENTATIONS AND MEETINGS FOR THE CREATION OF A TAX REINVESTMENT ZONE IN DOWNTOWN FORT WORTH No ~~ WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth desires to promote the development and redevelopment of a section of the Downtown Fort Worth area by creation of a reinvestment zone pursuant to the Tax Increment Financing Act, Chapter 311 of the Tax Code (the Act ); and WHEREAS, the Act requires that the governing body of the City shall make a formal presentation concerning the proposed zone to the governing body of each county or school district which levies real property taxes in the proposed zone; and WHEREAS, the Act further requires that the governing body of the City shall notify each taxing unit that levies real property taxes in the proposed zone of each presentation to be made to each such county or school district; and WHEREAS, the Act further provides that the City Council may meet with the representatives appointed by each of the affected taxing units to discuss matters relating to the creation of the proposed zone, and WHEREAS, the Fort Worth City Council desires to designate certain members of the City Council to act on behalf of the City Council at these presentations and meetings, and to notify the governing bodies and representatives of each affected taxing unit as to such presentations and meetings; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS SECTION 1 That pursuant to Section 311 008 of the Tax Increment Financing Act, which authorizes the City to exercise any power necessary and convenient to carry out the Act, the City Council does hereby CITY OF FORT WORTH A Designate the members of the City Council s Expanding Economic Opportunities Committee (specifically, Councilmembers Kenneth Barr, Jim Lane, Bill Meadows, and Mayor Pro-Tem Virginia Nell Webber), to jointly or individually represent and act on behalf of the City Council at all formal presentations to the governing bodies of the affected taxing units, and at all meetings with appointed representatives of the affected taxing units; and B Authorize Mayor Kay Granger or, in her absence, any one of the members of the Expanding Economic Opportunities Committee to act on behalf of the City Council to notify the governing bodies of the affected taxing units of each formal presentation, and to notify the representatives of the affected taxing units of each meeting with those repre- sentatives SECTION 2 That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Fort Worth and it is accordingly resolved IN TESTIMONY, WHEREOF, I have here- unto set my hand and caused the Official Seal of the City of Fort Worth, Texas, to be affixed this 1st day of No ~mber,/A D 1994 Mayor APPROVED CITY COUNCIL NOV 1 'I~~~ ~~ ~.~,~-a./ C.it~ ~ate9nrp of t3~e City of Fort Warth, texas CITY OF FORT WORTH
