HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1925A Resolution ~ ~~~ Adopted Resolution No, -°~;a ~ IN SUPPORT OF THE NORTH TEXAS CLEAN AIR COALITION'S OZONE ALERT INITIATIVE Whereas, the Environmental Protection Agency has designated the North Texas counties of Tarrant, Collin, Dallas and Denton as moderate non- attainment for ozone under the Federal Clean Air Act; and, Whereas, not achieving attainment status by 1996 could have a very detrimental effect upon the public health and economic growth of the four counties; and, Whereas, the North Texas Clean Air Coalition has been formed by the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the North Texas Commission to promote and achieve clean air in the Fort Worth-Dallas region; and, Whereas, the Coalition has instituted a voluntary ozone alert program to encourage citizens and businesses to implement various strategies to reduce emissions on days when high levels of ozone formation is likely; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Fort Worth City Council that the City of Fort Worth supports the North Texas Clean Air Coalition's Ozone Alert initiative, and encourages the City Manager and staff, along with all Fort Worth businesses and residents, to implement strategies to reduce ozone causing emissions on Ozone Alert days.
