HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1963City Council City of Fort Worth, Texas ~~~~~d~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ No. 1963 WHEREAS, William Mann Jr. passed from this life on December 1, 1993; and WHEREAS, Mr. Mann, a native of New Bern, North Cazolina and a graduate of Hampton University in Virginia with a degree in azchitecture, had a distinguished career with the U.S. State Department before moving to Fort Worth in 1987 and beginning a second illustrious career as an outstanding civic leader; and, WHEREAS, during his service with the State Department's Agency for International Develop- ment, Mr. Mann organized a conference on urban development for the world's countries, developed middle- and low-income housing in Central America, South America and Asia, and along the way earned honors from Chile, Ghana and others, as well as receiving a presidential appointment in 1977 as a foreign service officer, consulaz officer and secretary; and, WHEREAS, in Fort Worth, Mr. Mann immersed himself into the community by serving as vice president of the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission, chairman of the Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, a member of the Inner-City Development Corp. of South Dallas and the Community Re-Development Center for Fort Worth, and others; and, WHEREAS, Mr. Mann will be missed by not only the community, but also by his beloved family; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS, on December 14, 1993: THAT the family of William Mann Jr. be given the condolences of the City of Fort Worth as it shazes with them the grief resulting from the loss of a deeply respected member of this community and an outstanding citizen of Fort Worth; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this memorial resolution be spread upon the minutes of City Council and that a copy be furnished to the family of William Mann Jr. as an expression by the City Council members of their sympathy. - Kay Granger, Mayor Virginia Nell Webber, Mayor Pro tempore Chuck Silcox, District 3 Rev.
