MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR REVEREND J.W. BRISCOE
WHEREAS, the Reverend J.W. Briscoe was born in Mansfield and lived in Tarrant
County his entire life; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Briscoe graduated from I.M. Terrell High.School, earned a degree
from Arlington Baptist College and attended Dallas Bishop College and
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Briscoe provided for the spiritual needs of the members of Zion
Missionary~Church for the last 25 years as well as the civic needs of Como
and the entire community by his involvement in civic and political matters,
including membership in the Lake Como Interdenominational Ministers
Alliance and North Texas District Association of National Baptist
Conventions of America, Inc., eight years of service on the City's Zoning
Commission and six years of service on the Fort Worth Transportation
Authority Board; and,
WHEREAS, Reverend Briscoe's dedication to the principle that he and the members of
his church and civic community must go out and find the needy and share
and care for those less fortunate will be a lasting legacy from which each of
us will benefit,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Fort Worth's
City Council, on behalf of the citizens express its condolences to the family
of Reverend Briscoe on his death,
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be made a
permanent part of the City's records and a copy be furnished to the
Reverend Brisoe family.
