East Rosedale Street from Miller to IH 820 is a current active construction project that is being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TX DOT) and will provide an improved four-lane divided roadway. This section of Rosedale is the last segment of improvements to Rosedale from Forest Park to IH 820. During construction, inquiries have been received regarding the adequacy of transit bus stop locations and their compliance with ADA requirements. City staff has been working with TxDOT, the contractor for the project and Trinity Metro to provide acceptable bus loading areas within the active construction work area. The parties have agreed to install improved bus stop waiting pads and approach walking areas that are compliant with ADA requirements. In addition, a few bus stops will be temporarily relocated during specific phases of construction. These bus stop improvements will remain during the duration of the construction project with initial deployment occurring in the next 2-3 weeks. These same bus stop requirements were previously used during construction of the section of Rosedale from Miller to US 287. The rerouting of the existing transit route by Trinity Metro was an option that was previously considered. But due to constraints in operations by large transit vehicles it was to determined to be impractical on narrower local streets with parking on both sides of the street.
