HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1732REVISED RESOLUTION ATTACHMENT TO M&C G-9194 RESOLUTION Adopted Resolution fyo, ~,,Z WHEREAS, the United States Department of Health and Human Services has announced the Healthy Start Program which will provide financial support to ten communities across the United States with high infant mortality rates to assist such cities in reducing infant mortality; and WHEREAS, the following entities have formed a consortium to apply for funding assistance from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, including a first year grant to develop an action program to reduce infant mortality: Tarrant County Fort worth Independent School District Tarrant County Hospital District • Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine University of Texas at Arlington State of Texas Department of Health Diamond Hill Health Planning Committee Cooks-Fort Worth Children's Hospital Women's Center of Tarrant County Planned Parenthood of North Texas March of Dimes Tarrant County Community Health Action Project • Fort Worth Adolescent Pregnancy Board Stop Six Community Services, Inc.-~ State of Texas Department of Human Services Harris Methodist Health System Catholic Charities United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County and, WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth is deeply concerned about the high rate of infant mortality in this community. Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth: The City of Fort Worth joins with those entities named above and supports the submission of an application to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services seeking designation as one of the ten communities to begin the implementation of the Healthy Start Program in order to significantly reduce infant mortality. Be it further resolved that the City Council of the City of Fort Worth endorses and supports the efforts, goals and objectives of the U. S.
