A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE GOVERNOR TO OPEN THE CALL
OF THE SPECIAL SESSION IN ORDER TO CONSIDER THE
E%PANSION OF THE CRIME DISTRICT BOARD
WHEREAS, The Mission of the Tarrant County Crime Control
and Prevention District is:
To design and put into action a comprehensive plan
consisting of coordinated and innovative strategies with
programs of deterrence, apprehension, rehabilitation-and
punishment, which together will reduce crime, and the
fear of crime, for all citizens of Tarrant County; and
WHEREAS, A comprehensive plan entails broad based com-
munity input from all segments of the County, including
elected officials as well as private citizens; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1694, The Crime Control and Pre-
vention District Act, a bill and act of the Regular Ses-
sion of the 71st Legislature creating the District, al-
lows for only one public member on the temporary and
permanent board of the Tarrant County Crime Control and
Prevention District; and
WHEREAS, it has become apparent to the Temporary Board
that there is a need for greater public representation
on both the temporary and permanent boards; and
WHEREAS, more board members should be selected to re-
flect the sex, race, and ethnic composition of Tarrant
County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TE11A3:
That the City Council joins with the members of the Tem-
porary Board of the Tarrant County Crime Control and
Prevention District in respectfully requesting the Hon-
orable William P. Clements, Jr., Governor of the state
of Texas, to add amendment of the Crime Control and Pre-
vention District Act, to the call of the Special Session
of the 71st Texas Legislature, meeting in Austin, Texas,
so as to address the issues concerned above.
