HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 10151 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 10151 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council June 5, 2018 r$4 Page 1 of 1 i1 Y r VA SUBJECT: JUDICIAL SALARY RECOMMENDATION 0 1875 A study by the Human Resources Department conducted in 2017, and again reviewed in 2018, indicates that City of Fort Worth Municipal Court judicial salaries are currently 15% below the competitive market rate. The Chief Judge has proposed a plan to address this over a two year period. The recommendation is as follows: 1) Provide a 7% increase in FYI that is retroactive to the judicial appointment date of April 1, 2018 for all current full-time judges 2) Provide a 7% increase in FY19 to correspond with the appointment date of April 1 for all current full-time judges 3) The Chief Judge will draft a policy to provide pay differential between new and experienced judges to replace a current 5% 5 year practice 4) Additionally, Judge Rodgers will continue to develop performance measures to can be used to fairly evaluate the judicial team 5) This proposed recommendation fits within the budget FYI appropriation for the Municipal Courts The City Manager's Office, Human Resources, Budget Office, and the Municipal Courts agree with this action plan. The recommended increase fits within the FYI budgeted appropriation for the Municipal Courts and does not require additional funding. The Ad Hoc Municipal Courts Committee met on May 15, 2018 and approved this recommendation. This matter is the subject of an M&C on the Council agenda for June 5, 2018.
