ENDORSING LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES OF THE
TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE
DURING THE SPECIAL SESSIONS OF THE 71ST TEXAS LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal League represents the
interests of all cities in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal League Board of Di-
rectors meeting in annual session October 26-28, 1989, ap-
proved a listing of legislative priorities to be pursued
during the Special Sessions of the 71st Texas Legislature;
and

WIiEREAS, each of these priorities would be of ben-
efit to the City of Fort Worth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the CITY COUNCIL of the
CITY OF FORT WORTH that the Council endorses and supports
the TML priority listing, as follows:
Sec. 1. Protect TML interests in areas that are in the
Governor's call(s), particularly workers'
compensation reform and, as necessary, in the area
of utility regulation.
Sec. 2. Seek introduction and passage of legislation
which would:
a. Restore municipal authority regarding the
location of pawnshops (correcting SB 601
from the 1989 regular session).

b. Clarify the law regarding aboveground
storage of fuel at airports (correcting
SB 698 from the 1989 regular session).
c. Provide for public official immunity
(reintroducing HB 2115 from the 1989
regular session}.
d. Provide cities greater permitting
authority (reintroducing HB 2377 from
the 1989 regular session).
e. Accelerate the availability of solid
waste planning funds.

cil of the City of Fort Worth, Texas.
