HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1296e ~\ REVISED ATTACHMENT TO M&C G-7402 ~~50111t1Oa1 Adopted Resolution No. ~~~~ L ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COl1NCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS AUTHORIZIrJC, SHE Sl1BMISSION OF A TEXAS EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS PROGRAM APPLICATIOrJ TO THE .f ~fEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS ANN AIlTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT AS -THE CITY'S EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN ALL MATTTERS PERTAININf, TO THE C,ITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE EMERGENCY SHELTERS GRANTS PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth desires to develop a viable urban community, including expansion of the quantity and improvement of the quality of the emergencv shelters for the homeless; and WHEREAS, certain conditions exist which represent a threat to the health and safety of the homeless; and WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interests of the City of Fort ldorth to apply for funding under the 1888 Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program; N041, THEREFORE, RF IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COIINf.IL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: 1.. That a Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program application is hereby authorized to be filed on behalf of the City with the Texas Department of Community Affairs. 2. That the City's application be placed in competition for funding under the Emergency Shelter Grants Fund. 3. That the application be for $115,000 of grant funds to provide for the: a) rehabilitation of the Presbyterian Night Shelter for the Homeless; b) rehabilitation of the Star House Shelter; c) rehabilitation of the Women Haven of Tarrant County Battered Women's Shelter and the payment of certain operating expenses; and d) oavment of certain operating expenses of the Second Chance Foundation Shelter. 4. That the Citv Council directs and designates the City Manager as the City's Chief Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in all mattters in connection with this application and the City's participation in the Texas Emergency Shelter Grants Program. 5. That it further be stated that the non-profit agencies referenced in item 3 will provide the required $115,000 in match through their cash and in-kind contributions.
