WHEREAS, because Sammons of Fort Worth, Inc., has proposed eleven
concessions to its franchise to operate a cable communica-
tion television system in Fort Worth, it is of extraordi-
nary importance that the City retain outside legal counsel
on an interim basis to assist the City Attorney in legal
matters involved in this dispute; and
WHEREAS, the law firm of Miller, Young and Holbrooke are well
recognized for the knowledge and experience of its members
in the field of cable television regulatory law; and
WHEREAS, Miller, Young and Holbrooke has agreed to represent the
City in assisting and consulting with the City Attorney in
preparation for and in negotiations with Sammons of Fort
Worth, Inc., concerning the disputed cable franchise
concessions; NOW, '
8E IT RESOLVED 8Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1.
That the law firm of Miller, Young and Holbrooke be retained as
outside counsel, pursuant to Section 3, Chapter VI, of the City
Charter, to assist the City Attorney on an interim basis in the
negotiation and resolution of disputed cable television franchise
issues; and
SECTION 2.
That as far as practicable, the compensation to be paid Miller,
Young and Holbrooke for the legal services be fixed in an amount not
to exceed $l0,000.
