WHEREAS, the Trinity River represents a significant resource to the
City of Fort Worth and the Metroplex Region; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has prepared and released
a Final Regional Environmental Impact Statement of the
Trinity River and Tributaries; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth has been a participating member of
the Interjurisdictional Management Program through the
North Central Texas Council of Governments in an effort to
review the Regional Environmental Impact Statement of the
Trinity River and Tributaries and to develop regulatory
policies having impact on the City of Fort Worth; and
WHEREAS, the City Council's Select Committee on the Trinity River
Corridor has met and discussed in general terms an
increasing regional concern of the lack of
comprehensiveness and technical deficiencies of the
Regional Environmental, Impact Statement of the Trinity
River and Tributaries and its use as a final basis for
regional policies and goals; and
WHEREAS, those technical deficiencies remain unresolved and have
caused several entities within the Metroplex Region to
support and seek further study of the Trinity River through
Congressional action; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council will be participating in the
National League of Cities in Washington, D.C., from March
19, 1988 through March 22, 1988;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FORT WORTH,
SECTION 1.
THAT the Mayor and City Council be authorized to contact our
Congressional Representatives to seek authorization and funding by
Congress sufficient for a complete, comprehensive restudy of the
Trinity River throughout the Metroplex Region.
