~'sREAS, the Texas Department of Health, as directed by the Texas
a' Legislature, is responsible for providing uniform
standards for the management of municipal solid waste
throughout the State of Texas in a manner that properly
safeguards the health, safety, and welfare of all people
and protects the environment; and
WHEREAS, it is important that local municipalities provide for the
safe, adequate, and timely removal and disposal of the
municipal solid waste set out for collection from the
premises of their citizens:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that all interested
parties be advised that the City Council of the City of Fort Worth,
Texas adopts the following position:
That it is necessary for the City of Fort worth to
provide adequate means for th.e safe disposal of municipal
solid wastes;
That the City of Fort worth is requesting approval to
undertake expansion and make improvements at the City's
Southeast Sanitary Landfill; and,
That Tom Davis, Director of the Department of City
Services, is hereby authorized by the City Council of the
City of Fort Worth to execute the attached letter dated
May 10, 1988, addressed to the Texas Department of Health,
as the act •and deed of the City Council of the City of
Fort worth, Texas and the City Council of the City of Fort
hereby approves and ratifies his action in the execution
of said letter.
