WHEREAS, on 'November 24, 1966, the City of Fort Worth was selected
by the United States Treasury Department's Bureau of
Engraving and Printing as the site for its new Western
Currency Production Facility; and
WHEREAS, various persons and firms have agreed to donate and have
donated property, money, and services for the purpose of
building said facility for the benefit of the citizens of
Fort Worth and the United States, including the donation
of approximately 100 acres of real property to serve as
the site for said facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Fort Worth authorized the City to
accept said donations by Mayor and Council Communication
No. C-10147, adopted on March 4, 1987; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth seeks to provide assurances to
these donors that in the event said facility is not con-
structed or operated as a currency facility that the City
will diligently pursue all legal remedies to seek the
return of such property and/or funds from the United
States to the donor(s) who donated same for said specific
purpose;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WORTH, TEXAS:
That the City of Fort Worth agrees that in the. event the Western
Currency Production Facility of the Bureau of Engraving and
Printing, United States Treasure Department, is not built or oper-
ated as a currency production facility, the City will utilize its
best efforts in good faith to seek the return of all property and
funds donated for said facility to the respective donors, using all
available and/or reasonably obtainable means of effectuating said
return.
