SUBJECT: Proposed Council-Initiated Zoning Changes for the
Oakland Corners Urban Village
The September 4 City Council agenda will include an M&C to initiate the zoning process for
the Oakland Corners Urban Village, along E. Lancaster Avenue between Ayers Avenue and
Hughes Avenue and along Oakland Boulevard between Panola Avenue and the extension of
Norma Street. The attached PowerPoint demonstrates the future land use as outlined in the
2007 Comprehensive Plan, the current zoning, and the proposed zoning. Council Member
Kathleen Hicks has expressed interest in the rezoning of this area to MU-1 Low Intensity
Mixed-Use, in accordance with the Urban Village designation.
The City of Fort Worth held an informational meeting on July 18, 2007, that was attended by
Councilmember Hicks, approximately 10 property owners, and staff. At this meeting, the
property owners expressed support for the proposed zoning changes.
Public hearings on the rezoning of these properties would be held at the Zoning Commission
meeting on October 10 and the City Council meeting of November 6.
Any questions you may have should be directed to Dana Burghdoff, Deputy Planning and
; Development Director, at 817-392-8018.
