A RESOLUTION
SPONSORING THE PROPOSED SPUR FREEWAY BETWEEN
INTERSTATE 35W AND STATE HIGHWAY 114
WHEREAS, there are current and proposed annexations and
developments in the far North Fort Worth Sector of the City; and,
WHEREAS, such developments in this area will require additional
freeway service in order to develop properly and with adequate
access to existing freeway arteries; and,
WHEREAS, a proposed Spur Freeway is needed to facilitate traffic
flow between the Interstate 3.5 corridor area containing the new
Bureau of Engraving and the proposed North Fort Worth Airport and
existing State Highway 114 leading to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport;
and,
WHEREAS, the owners of the property containing the proposed route,
have indicated their willingness to dedicate the required
right-of-way area for the proposed Freeway; and,
WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation is presently considering the master thoroughfare
plan for the area; and,
WHEREAS, a need exists for the immediate development of this
proposed Spur Freeway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; the City Council of the City of
Fort Worth, Texas, does hereby approve and sponsor the immediate
building of the proposed Spur 114 Freeway through the property to
be dedicated by the owners; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Manager are
authorized and directed to present the proposal for the Spur
Freeway developed by the owners to the State Department of
Highways and Public Transportation for approval and funding of the
immediate design and construction of the Spur Freeway.
