EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
ROBERT M. BASS
FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS
TO THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF THE CITY AND STATE
WHEREAS, one of the most important assets a City and a State can have is
their transportation network, from local streets to state and
federal highways and including ground transportation systems, and,
WHEREAS, one of the keys to the continuing growth and critical economic
development of the City of Fort Worth and the State of Texas is
the vital linkages provided by streets, roads and highways
accomplished under the guidance and direction of the Texas Highway
Commission, and,
WHEREAS, Robert M. Bass has maintained an active interest and contributed
his time and energy to the achievement of a superior highway
system in the City of Fort Worth and throughout the State of Texas
as both a concerned citizen and a member of the Texas Highway
Commission, and,
WHEREAS, the strong leadership shown by Robert M. Bass helped bring about a
consensus on the route of the much needed Highway 121 extension
(North Side-Southwest Freeway, and, Robert M. Bass worked to obtain
funding for this project, as well as other urgently needed projects
in the Fort Worth area, and,
WHEREAS, Robert M. Bass also worked diligently in the successful effort to
persuade the State Highway and Public Transportation Commission to
approve the southward extension of the Highway 360 Freeway, thereby
improving access to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and,
WHEREAS, in recognition of his dedication and his many contributions to our
city, our region and our state,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that June 16, 1987 be recognized as Robert
M. Bass Day and express on behalf of all our citizens, the City's
appreciation for his good works. APMVW BY
