HomeMy WebLinkAboutIR 10187 INFORMAL REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS No. 10187 To the Mayor and Members of the City Council October 16, 2018 h�T�i7 Page 1 of 1 �i {i7 Y *a SUBJECT: PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT FOR rrn f SUBDIVISION FENCE MATERIAL In response to the City Council's request, staff is proposing a Zoning Ordinance text amendment addressing allowed materials for fences/walls required along arterial streets for one and two- family subdivisions. The Zoning Ordinance currently allows cedar wood fences, which deteriorate more quickly than other fence materials. The proposed text amendment would provide the following language: 1. "...minimum six-foot masonry wall of brick, stone, decorative cast concrete, wrought iron, tubular steel, durable composite board with top and bottom rails, or other material with a projected life expectancy of 25 nears or more along the entire length of each property." 2. "Replacement of a portion of a fence shall match the existing fence material and design." Staff has briefed the Development Advisory Committee and the Zoning Commission.
