HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1248A Resolution ? FORMALLY REQUESTING THAT THE TARRANT COUNTY 9-1-1 BOARD OF MANAGERS DELAY THE "CUT-OVER" OF THE 9-1-1 EMERGENCY NUMBER SERVICE. WHEREAS, on April 6, 1985, Fort Worth voters, along with other Tarrant County voters, approved the creation of the Tarrant County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District, with 87 7 percent of Fort Worth voters voting in the affirmative, and, WHEREAS, City staff has, while working closely with District personnel, believed since the inception of this project that all interfaces necessary to integrate the 9-1-1 system with existing hardware would be in place prior to the official implementation of the system, and, WHEREAS, an interface does not currently exist between the two computer systems and will require additional and inefficient manual call- processing procedures; and, WHEREAS, the City Council believes that such an interface prior to .implementation of the system would be in the best interest of the citizens of Fort Worth and the credibility of the 9-1-1 system, and, WHEREAS, an interface product is currently being produced and is anticipated to arrive in about one week; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fort Worth City Council formally request that the Tarrant County 9-1-1 Board of Managers delay "cut -over" of the 9-1-1 emergency number service until such time that an interface between the 9-1-1 system and our computer aided dispatch hardware is established and adequately tested.
