HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1249A Resolution Adopted Resolution Nor '4L& WATER CONSERVATION WHEREAS, the City Council of the. City of Fort Worth finds and is of the opinion that while existing and curently planned water supplies, including the Richland Creek Reservoir, are adequate to meet projected area requirements until about 2025, at some point additional supplies will be difficult and significantly more expensive to obtain; and WHEREAS, the State of Texas has determined that the conservation of and protection of water supplies to be in the best interests of its citizenry and requires the submission of water conservation plans by those engaged in various water approval and permitting processes; and WHEREAS, there exists a need to manage the costs associated with providing the water treatment and distribution capacity necessary to satisfy the increasing peak daily and hourly demands which are largely the result of summer outdoor water use; and WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned with maintaining adequate wastewater treatment capacity to serve an expanding regional population and economy and recognizes that efforts which encourage reduction of average daily per capita wastewater flows without impairing economic development are in the best interests of the City of Fort Worth; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to fully integrate the concept and methods of water demand management into long range planning, water and wastewater facility design and construction, and capital improvement budgeting: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Fort Worth City Council adopts the Fort Worth Water Conservation Plan dated July 28, 1987, and instructs the Director of the Fort Worth Water Department to utilize the Plan, when required, in its submissions to State agencies and to propose modifications to the City Council as necessary to meet State and local goals.
