RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council
1. Authorize an amendment to the existing Cooperative Agreement with ThyssenKrupp Elevator
Corporation, using The Cooperative Purchasing Network Contract No. R150801, to increase the Fiscal
Year 2018-2019 amount by $294,900.00 for a total amount not to exceed $644,900.00 for the repair gind

Center; and
2. Adopt the attached appropriation ordinance increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the
Culture & Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Fund in the amount of$294,900.00, from available funds.
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this M& C is to authorize an amendment to the City' s existing agreement with
ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation, using The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) Contract No.
R150801, 2018-2019 amount by $294,900.00 for a total amount not to exceed $644,900.00. On Tuesday,
March 22, 2016, City Council approved (M& C P-11849) the execution of an Agreement with
ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation using TCPN Contract No. R150801 in an amount not to exceed
$350,000.00 per year for elevator and escalator repair and service for the Public Events Department.
During a required annual inspection, all four escalators in the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall were shut down by
the State of Texas due to cracks in the escalator steps. Over 75% of the steps in one of the escalators are
cracked and require repair or replacement. Due to the number, and age of the steps involved, the Public
Events Department recommends replacing all of the steps in the four escalators to prevent further damage
or injury to patrons. The Public Events Department is requesting this amendment to the existing
cooperative agreement in order to fund the recommended repairs and replacement of the escalator steps.
The Culture and Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Fund has available funds to be transferred to this
project. Accordingly, this M& C is also requesting that City Council adopt the attached appropriation
ordinance in the amount of$294,900.00 increasing estimated receipts and appropriations in the Culture &
Tourism DFW Revenue Share Capital Fund.
COOPERATIVE PURCHASE - State law provides that a local government purchasing an item under a
Cooperative Purchasing Agreement satisfies state law requiring that the local government seek
competitive bids for the purchase of the items. TCPN contracts are competitively bid to increase and

simplify the purchasing power of government entities across the State of Texas. TCPN issued and
awarded Contract No. R150801 in October 2015 and it will expire on September 30, 2019.
