FOR COMM IOM TO MU WORTH AVIATION
WHEREAS, aviation is the major industry of Fort Worth; and,
'WHEREAS, preservation of that history is significant to the City
of Fort Worth; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Hospers and their volunteers have actively
pursued preservation of our aviation history through acquisition,
restoration, maintenance, and operation of the B-17 known as
"Chuckie", which is based at Meacham Airport and will participate
in the 1987 International Airfest; and,
WHEREAS, Chuckie, the B-17, is one of the last remaining
airplanes of this type still flying in the world; and,
WHEREAS, Chuckie and its crew of volunteers represents the City
of Fort Worth throughout the United States at numerous airshows;
and,
WHEREAS, it is important that the City of Fort Worth encourage
the preservation of aviation heritage: NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth,
Texas, that October 17, 1987, will be known as "Chuckie B-17 Day".
