A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PARTICIPATION CF THE POLYTECHNIC MAIN STREET PROJECT IN THE TEXAS MAIN STREET PROJECT AS A SELF-INITIATED URBAN PROJECT. WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Project of the Texas Historical Commission has been created to assist cities to develop public/private initiatives to revitalize their downtowns or neighborhood commercial areas, and WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Project has established criteria for designation as a self-initiated urban Main Street Project and a program of limited assistance to qualifying projects, and WHEREAS, the Polytechnic Main Street Project has been participating in such revitalization efforts since January 1987 in the Polytechnic Heights camiercial area, and WHEREAS, the Polytechnic Main Street Project Advisory Board and City staff have reviewed the criteria for the Polytechnic Heights commercial area's continu6d designation as a self-initiated urban Main Street Project and recommend that these criteria be accepted by the City, and WHEREAS, the Polytechnic Main Street Project Advisory Board recommends that the City ;;join with the Board and Texas Wesleyan College to undertake the Texas Main Street '2roject in the Polytechnic Heights commercial area; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That the City of Fort Worth, Texas supports and accepts the criteria for the Polytechnic Heights cc miercial area's designation as a self-initiated urban Main Street Project. SECTION 2: That the City of Fort Worth will cooperate with Polytechnic Main Street Project Advisory Board and Texas Wesleyan College to achieve the goals of the Texas Main Street Project. SECTION 3: That the City of Fort Worth recommends to the Polytechnic Main Street Advisory Board and Texas Wesleyan College that the Main Street Project be funded with resources available and that a full-time Main Street Project Manager be employed. SECTION 4: That the Polytechnic Main Street Project Advisory Board, whose members include representatives from Texas Wesleyan College, the Mayor's Task Force on Polytechnic Heights (Polytechnic Heights Strategy Committee), the Polytechnic Heights Business Association, and the City Planning Department, be designated to oversee the ctivities of the Main Street Project Manager.
