SUBJECT: POLICE INITIATED OR POLICE PURPOSE TOWING SERVICES
1875 UPDATE
The purpose of this informal report is to inform the City Council that Police Purpose towing
services will be transitioning to the contract with Tegsco, LLC (AutoReturn) on November 1, 2018.
Currently, the City of Fort Worth Police Department has been operating under amended
agreements between individual wrecker companies for police initiated and police-purpose towing
services through November 30, 2018 or until $50,000 in towing services was reached, whichever
occurred first. As a result of the volume of police initiated and police purpose towing services this
month, funds will be depleted before end of the Nov. 30th extension period.
All towing company operators that had amended contracts with the City have been notified of the
termination of the agreements as required under contract terms. AutoReturn will begin providing
police initiated and police purpose towing utilizing those towing companies that chose to sign a
contract to provide those services.
