WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Health, as directed by the Texas
Legislature, is responsible for providing uniform standards for the management of
municipal solid waste, including landfill disposal of municipal sewage sludge, throughout
the State of Texas in a manner that properly safeguards the health, safety, and welfare
of all people and protects the environment; and,
WHEREAS, it is important that the City of Fort Worth provide for the
safe, adequate, and timely disposal of the municipal sewage sludge generated at the
Village Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, Fort Worth, Texas,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that all interested parties be
advised that the City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas adopts the following
position:
That it is necessary for the City of Fort Worth
to provide adequate means for the safe disposal
of municipal sewage sludge:
That the City of Fort Worth is requesting approval
to construct a sludge-only landfill on a tract of
City owned land north of the Village Creek
Wastewater Treatment Plant. The proposed
sludge-only landfill is described in the Site
Development Plan dated February 1986, prepared
by BCFN, consulting engineers, Fort Worth, Texas:
That the City of Fort Worth has and will provide
sufficient resources including adequate backup
equipment to properly operate the site and provide
for proper closure.
