HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1128A Resolution x-1/2 WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing plans to establish a Western Currency Production Facility in the western half of the United States; and WHEREAS, Fort Worth, Texas, is being considered for the location of this facility; and WHEREAS, the proposed National Currency Museum would be located adjacent to the new western currency production facility, attracting millions of visitors, and creating even more jobs, and WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth must submit its written proposal by March 7, 1986, offering a donated facility, and WHEREAS, the private sector cooperating with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce has offered the donation of a 100-acre tract in North Fort Worth and assistance toward funding the construction of a building for the proposed facility; and WHEREAS, this effort is an alliance of the public and private sectors to improve the quality of life for all Fort Worth citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fort Worth recognizes the economic value of having the Western Currency Production Facility and the Museum in Fort Worth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS: 1. That the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is by these presents invited and encouraged to locate its Western Currency Production Facility in Fort Worth. 2. That the City of Fort Worth commits to extend all city services to the proposed site, including water, sewer, street improvements, fire and police protection. 3. That Mayor Bob Bolen is hereby authorized and empowered to solicit and accept the donation of land and funds from private sources to be used for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Facility -in Fort Worth. )p 1 4. That the Mayor is hereffurther authorized and empowered to submit to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing a letter expressing the desire of the City Council that the new facility be located in Fort Worth and detailing the City's commitment and support, including the private land and funds which have now been committed to the ity for the facility.
